IRS Offers Details on New Small Business Health Care Tax Credit
Included in the Affordable Care Act approved by Congress in March and signed into law by the President, the small business health care tax credit, which is in effect this year, is designed to encourage small employers to offer health insurance coverage for the first time or maintain coverage they already have.
For tax years 2010 to 2013, the maximum credit is 35 percent of premiums paid by eligible small business employers and 25 percent of premiums paid by eligible employers that are tax-exempt organizations. The maximum credit goes to smaller employers –– those with 10 or fewer full-time equivalent (FTE) employees –– paying annual average wages of $25,000 or less. The credit is completely phased out for employers that have 25 FTEs or more or that pay average wages of $50,000 per year or more. Because the eligibility rules are based in part on the number of FTEs, not the number of employees, businesses that use part-time help may qualify even if they employ more than 25 individuals.
Eligible small businesses can claim the credit as part of the general business credit starting with the 2010 income tax return they file in 2011. For tax-exempt organizations, the IRS will provide further information on how to claim the credit.
More information about the credit, including a step-by-step guide and answers to frequently asked questions, is available on the Affordable Care Act page.

Promise Neighborhood implementation grantees are required to set and submit baselines, actual performance data, and targets for each GPRA indicator and for all five years of the grant. While grantees were required to address targets in their applications, these targets were set before the Guidance Document was released and before complete baseline data was available at each site. This continuing guidance identifies several data sources, considerations, and methods sites may consider when setting targets. The submission of final baselines and targets is the first part of the Promise Neighborhood Data Plan required of all implementation grantees.

CEO of broker-dealer arrested for allegedly misleading SEC
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The chief executive officer broker dealer Crucible Capital Group, Charles J. Moore, was arrested on Friday morning at his offices in Manhattan and charged with obstructing a regulatory examination and making false statements and filings to regulators. Moore is accused of repeatedly reporting his firm's net capital above the threshold mandated by Securities and Exchange Commission regulations, when, in fact, the firm had a net capital deficiency. As an SEC-registered broker-dealer that maintained no customer accounts, Crucible was required to maintain net capital of at least $5,000 at all times. Moore is also accused of directing a Crucible employee to falsify invoices received from vendors by removing references to past-due balances, and deliver the falsified invoices to SEC employees conducting a regulatory examination on the firm. The CEO allegedly attempted to hide debts for almost eight months and lied to the SEC to cover up his actions. "Charles Moore attempted to blow smoke in the eyes of the SEC, which was also an attempt to deceive his clients, and such charges come with appropriately hefty maximum sentences," said Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

Quality of our graduates
After talking to them on other things, we ask them to solve a few simple Math problems. This is really revealing. I give below the questions.
One candidate with a B.Sc (Comp) and MCA couldn't solve a single problem above. His answer to the first question was "1". In fact three candidates all gave "1" as the answer to the first question. Then on further prompting and helpful hints, one came up with 1.4, another 1.414. One person came up with an amazing method, which resulted in sqrt(35) reaching close to 12.xxx. No one could touch the quadratic equation. One candidate solved all but the last problem.
The degree we are giving out is worth shit.
